Lib Dems demand public refund after Southeastern slashed services

January 17, 2010

The local Liberal Democrats have launched a campaign to demand a public refund, after Southeastern trains slashed services due to the snow. While freight and express trains appeared to be running normally, Lewisham commuters were left stranded. Southeastern receives a £136 million public subsidy, and so the Lib Dems are calling for the company to return £1.1 million – a share of the subsidy equivalent to the 3 days of service lost – to be invested in improvements to our stations in the borough.
